Learning Outcomes

• MS and MA students will master the material of the core curriculum courses listed above, as well as the foundational material of their specialty.
• MS and MA students will demonstrate mastery of a particular mathematical topic as currently practiced. They will exhibit a growing degree of “mathematical maturity” by precise and flexible application of foundational material to the content and context of the chosen topic within contemporary and classical mathematics.
• MA and MS students will present advanced mathematical results orally to a mathematically educated audience, which is not necessarily expert in the particular specialization.
• MS and MA students are expected to write cogent and convincing mathematics, aimed at a mathematically educated audience, using contemporary standards of presentation.
• All students who are GTA’s will demonstrate teaching proficiency.
